For those of us old enough to remember life before the internet, planning a journey, whether it be a walk or a bike ride, is now much easier thanks to all the online research and route planning we can do beforehand. And free navigation apps for walking and cycling, like Xpedition2 and our accompanying app, Xplorer GPS, mean we can concentrate on enjoying where we are and where we are going rather than having to continually refer to maps, compasses and sometimes vague landscape features.

Navigate Offline
In the Xplorer app, once you’ve downloaded your route and a map of the area you’re visiting, your phone isn’t reliant upon a mobile phone signal so you can always navigate, even in remote locations.

If you’re planning a trip over difficult terrain, you can highlight hazards such as cliff edges and other no-go zones you want to avoid whilst planning your route in Xpedition2. This helps you stay safe even if the weather turns.

Opt for traditional maps such as OS, or choose the global Adventure map to plan your route or navigate, and see a clearer picture of the surroundings, focused on just the features you need for outdoor adventures. .
